We're still Munchin'

Today is Valentine's Day and I am sure alot of you will be getting your fill of chocolate. And while it may taste good, just don't eat to much because you don't want to get sick. Right? Don't we get sick when we over indulge in too much food. I know I do. If this be the case, the why on earth are we still munching on that apple? What apple? Glad you asked. You know the one Adam and Eve chomped down on...the one ol' Satan gave them. That's the one.

Genesis 3:1-4
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "
4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Don't think because this happened a long time ago that the disobedience stopped in the garden. Oh no...we are still taking bites of that apple with our bad decisions and Satan is tap dancing a little jig each time we do because he knows the consequences of our actions. You see the serpent was more crafty than all the rest of the wild animals the Lord God made.

What we need to realize is that for every decision, there are always consequences good ones and the bad ones. Whether or not we had good intentions or bad ones, there are always consequences. The very first decision ever made (to eat or not to eat) had everlasting consequences. But it is no different with us. Our decisions will have long lasting consequences.

We choose to lie knowing the truth eventually comes out...and then wonder why we have no credibilty...and then say "People just don't understand me" (Munch Munch...Tap Tap).

We choose to hold on to hate and wonder why we never have any peace. We say stuff like "I am just not meant to be happy". (Munch Munch...Tap Tap)

We refuse to forgive others but say "Lord please forgive me of the millions of things I do wrong" and when we don't get an immediate response...we say "God doesn't hear me" (Munch Munch...Tap Tap)

We choose not to pay our debts but ask for God to bless us with this and that but when it don't happen right away, we say stuff like "it's just not my season" (Munch Munch...Tap Tap)

We choose to make bad relationship decisions, most of which are outside of God's will, all the while praying to God for a soulmate but wonder why it all goes to hell within a matter of months. We justify it by saying "The devil just wants me to be lonely." (Munch Munch...Tap Tap)

We choose to abuse our bodies with bad food, drugs, etc... and then we have to take all this medicince but all along telling folks "My God is a healer." (Munch Munch...Tap Tap)

Why should we expect to receive any more than we give? And then blame God for our bad decisions. Or we beg Him to get us out of the mess we made. Or we sit in denial of the mess and carry on like nothing is wrong. We are munchin' and the devil is tappin'!!! You see the serpent was more crafty than all the rest of the wild animals the Lord God made.

Ignorance is no longer an excuse to do wrong because once the apple was bitten we learned right from wrong. So where does that leave us? Lost in the sauce? I don't agree with that because God made provisions but some have decided to ignore His provisions (Munch Munch Munch...Tap Tap Tap).

You see the serpent was more crafty than all the rest of the wild animals the Lord God made. Don't let Satan tap dance in your life by convincing you to make bad decisions which will have everlasting consequences. I don't know about you but after a while that ol' apple doesn't taste as good as it once did.

Our History is American History - Slave Auctions

Happy Black History Month! For those who followed me here from FB, I appreciate you. So if my historical posts aren't going to show up over there... I am going to make sure they are seen and read by whoever wants to see and read them. Yesterday on Day 10, we learned about The Middle Passage, the journey of the enslaved Africans to the Americas. Today's post is continues as we get 1st hand accounts of what Slave Auctions were like.  Once in the Americas, slaves were sold, by auction, to the person that bid the most money for them. It was here that family members would find themselves split up, as a bidder may not want to buy the whole family, only the strongest, healthiest member. Slave Auctions were advertised when it was known that a slave ship was due to arrive via posters displayed around the town. When the slave ship docked, the enslaved men, women, and children would be taken off the ship and placed in a pen. In the pen, they would be washed and their skin covered with gr...

Our History is American History - Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC)

Did you know there was a Bible Museum in DC? I haven't been yet but maybe one day I will go. Funny thing about me, I don't watch biblical movies anymore. Those creative folks have a way of recreating the bible to either fit a certain narrative and/or create scenarios that are not documented or true. For example, there was a made for TV movie shown many years ago about Noah and the Great Flood. In this movie, Noah and Lot were best friends. I never understood why they felt the need to insert this impossible scenario into the movie. Anyhoo, that's just one example. One thing that is true from the bible that we've gotten correct is God is a promoter of monuments and record keeping. If you look in the Old Testament, more often than not, when something significant happened to someone in the bible, they erected a memorial or monument that would be a witness to the next generations. In the 1st & 2nd Book of Kings, the reigns of all the Kings of Israel and Judah were record...

Merry CHRISTmas - Part I

Well, it's Christmas time and (oh yeah I did say CHRISTMAS) and everyone is getting all jolly and decking the halls. Of course for me, this time of year is a time for reflection and as I reflect, I figure I may as well share my reflections with you all. And of course, my reflections are usually atypical but I suspect that you all know that by now. So what's on the Easterbaby's mind during Christmas. Well several things so you may want to schedule a break. Just kidding! (or not)... 1 - Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas - Not sure how you feel about this but I choose to stick with Merry Christmas because as a Christian, it is the holiday I choose to celebrate. I am all for political correctness in certain situations but as an UNAPOLOGETIC Christian, I disregard all that political correctness stuff. Why? Am I rude? Nope. Now if I was strapping on bombs and blowing up people for my beliefs, then you might say I was rude. Am I going to get bent out of shape because people say Ha...
